Womens Deodorant
One of the reasons there are separate mens and womens deodorant is there are inherent differences, besides the obvious physical ones, between men and women. Equality may be in and old stereotyping may be out, but biochemically men and women are different.
This is not necessarily a bad thing, just something that is very evident in all aspects of life, from the sports arena to varying emotional responses in various situations, to the way that women think as opposed to men.
When it comes to creating something as simple as a good womens deodorant, you will find that the needs differ from those in the basis of a good mens deodorant. This is just basic fact. Most women don't need much more that minimal protection from sweat and odor, whereas most men need something much stronger to help them get through the day.
Of course there are exceptions as there are to everything. Some women find that a womens deodorant is just not strong enough, even the maxxed out ones, and in these cases, these women will start using a mens deodorant.
And conversely, there are men who need very little protection from sweat and odor, and will use a very light mens deodorant, because they wouldn't be caught dead with a womens deodorant in their bathroom cabinet.
And another powerful reason for there being womens deodorant as well as mens, is the scent. Women prefer flowery, woman-smelling scents and men avoid them like the plague.
Very few men will take the time while shopping for a deodorant to stand around in the aisle, sniffing all the different products to find one he likes. The manufacturers have removed the need to do that for men by having separate deodorant ranges that appeal to men and another range of womens deodorant.
The biggest reason after all is marketing. The color of the container also has a lot to do with its appeal to men or women; most men will not buy a pastel pink colored deodorant container, and although a woman may buy a darker colored container, psychologically she would be more enticed by the femininely shaded deodorant.
There are probably many other reasons not covered here for there being different mens and womens deodorant, but the most relevant one as far as marketing is concerned, is that men and women are different, in every way possible.
